Clayfields House provides 24/7 secure care, education, programme work and treatment for up to 20 young people aged between 10 and 18 years of age. Young people are placed with us either on criminal grounds in terms of remand or sentence or on welfare grounds because of high-level risks to themselves. Young people secured on criminal or welfare grounds have highly complex needs including; multiple traumas, attachment difficulties, chronic self-harm and suicidal ideation, substance misuse and being victims of child sexual exploitation.  The young people we work with are some of the most vulnerable, challenged and challenging young people in the country but we believe that positive change is possible for all.  Our philosophy is that “Every Interaction Matters” and that the therapeutic relationships between staff and children are the main agent for change.

An essential part of our work is providing assessment then targeted intervention work for young people to reduce their offending and/or other high-risk behaviours. The Intervention Team has developed a national reputation for expert and innovative work and has examples of this published on the Youth Justice Effective Practice Resource Hub.

The successful applicant will deliver high quality, innovative programme and intervention work for young people either 1:1 or in groups in order to reduce offending and/or high-risk behaviours. You will be a graduate in a relevant discipline and already have some relevant training and experience in this field, highly literate and able to provide leadership and expertise to other colleagues in the centre.  You will be child focused, attachment and trauma aware, a positive and proactive person who is able to build relationships with ease, maintain personal emotional resilience and work effectively with a wide-ranging multi-disciplinary team.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
