Nottinghamshire County Council Building Cleaning Service in conjunction with Stanhope Primary School requires a new Caretaker. Working a 30-hour week, you will be required to clean a small area (2 halls) with the principal duties being to maintain the building and offer a range of caretaking services for the benefit of pupils, parents and staff. Working hours to be 6:30am to 9.30am and 3:00pm to 6 pm.

Stanhope Primary School is a Local Authority maintained school, with 380 pupils ranging in age from 2 to 11 years. The school comprises two separate buildings sited on our large grounds. We are a happy, successful and expanding school with dedicated, caring and supportive staff. We are looking for a caretaker who is hardworking and will take pride in ensuring the school is a safe and attractive environment for staff and pupils.

Working a split shift, you will be a key holder and will be expected to deliver a range of caretaking, maintenance, janitorial and cleaning duties, these to also include statutory compliance checks such as fire alarm testing, Legionella flushing, emergency lighting and Asbestos checks. You should have a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of DIY skills.

You will need to be smart in appearance, wear a provided uniform and need to be flexible in your approach to lettings, for which additional payments will be made. We would want you to work positively with staff, parents and children and be a good team worker.

Previous experience of this type of work would be advantageous but ideally, we are looking for someone with interest, flexibility and a high degree of commitment to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for staff, children and visitors to the school.

Visits to the school prior to an application are actively encouraged at a time agreed with the School Office on 0115 9553440.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
