The Big House is an eight bedded short break home which provides overnight breaks for children with significant intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, medical and sensory needs.  The children may respond or become distressed and may display risk behaviours when their needs are not met, or when struggling to communicate with others. We are based in the village of Edwinstowe, next door to Sherwood Forest in a purpose built home that opened in 2016.

We are looking for inspirational individuals who have the right skills, values and knowledge to work with the most vulnerable service children, meeting their physical, emotional, cultural and health care needs. Are you motivated, caring and committed to meeting the needs of the children you care for as well as having the ability and resilience to work in what can be a very physically and emotionally challenging environment? 

We currently have a vacancy for the part time (24 hours) post of residential care worker.  The post involves working shifts which include weekends and bank holidays.  The shifts are either 7am-2.30pm or 2-10pm on a rota basis, working two weekends out of three. 

We also offer enhanced pay for working weekends and for working after 8pm.  You will also get a generous holiday entitlement above statutory requirements, full induction including enrolment on a relevant Level 3 qualification if one is not already held.  We are a forward thinking, innovative home which prides itself in providing the best possible care for our children ensuring they meet their full potential.  We are proud of our staff team and the successful candidate with receive regular supervision with a senior member of staff.  There are extensive training and development opportunities, which you must be prepared to fully commit to.
