This is an excellent opportunity to join the Regional Adoption Agency, Adoption East Midlands, and to make a positive contribution to supporting children and young people and their families prior to and following adoption order.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Social Work England registered Social Worker who has at least 3 years post qualifying experience, with excellent interpersonal and assessment skills. You will need to have worked with vulnerable children and be aware of their needs for permanency.

You will be joining an established team of Social Workers within the Recruitment, Assessment and Placement Team which cover Four Local Authorities these include Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City, Derby City and Derbyshire who specialise in the assessment and preparation of prospective adoptive parents. You will be instrumental in supporting prospective adopters at panel and in the Home finding and placement of adoptive children, this will include training and the preparation of adopters. You will need to evidence an understanding of the importance of permanence for children and the need for therapeutic parenting. An ability to write clear, concise and analytical assessments is a core skill of this position.

It is essential that you are IT literate and ideally have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Outlook. Given the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a car is also essential (a taxi service will be provided where disability precludes this).

You will be also expected to contribute to improving outcomes for children and families and understand the concept of safeguarding children and young people.

You will receive regular supervision and be part of a supportive team environment. You will be supported to continue to develop your skills and knowledge.
