Adoption East Midlands (AEM) is a Regional Adoption Agency, delivering adoption services (recruitment, adoption panels and adoption support) on behalf of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Authorities.

The service is hosted by Nottinghamshire County Council, who are the employer.

Due to retirement, we are recruiting a service manager to manage the recruitment, assessment, placement and home finding services. A service manager is responsible for adoption support, and adoption panels. These areas of responsibility may change in the future.

The successful candidate will manage 6 or more direct reports and be accountable to the Group Manager.

AEM has been operational since April 2019, and there is opportunity to refine and develop service delivery and work closely with our partner Local Authorities.

AEM recruit in the region of 80 adoptive families a year, place approximately 150 children, and support approximately 800 families at any one time. The staff group is approximately 80 FTE, and AEM seeks to be a reflective, and constantly improving service.

As a service manager, you will play a crucial role in this ongoing improvement.

This role covers staff based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire, and will involve travel between these offices.
