The Council is looking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic person to undertake a wide range of transport and highways related work to help meet its transport and wider corporate strategic objectives (such as those associated with the economy, environment and health).

Working in the Transport Planning & Programme Development Team, this is a varied and challenging job, and includes:

  • The development, commissioning and management of work programmes
  • Consultation, liaison and negotiation undertaken as part of the development of schemes
  • Monitoring of the various schemes delivered by the team
  • The development of significant transport improvements
  • Helping secure external funding
  • The provision of guidance and service information to customers and partners.

A degree, chartered status or equivalent, (preferably in a transport or planning field) are essential for the post; as is a minimum three years’ experience (post qualification/chartered status eligibility) in transport, land use, and/or environmental field. The ability to occasionally work outside normal office hours and at the weekend is desirable.
