The Big House is a lovely short break home for children with significant intellectual disabilities and associated behaviours that present challenges.  We are based in the village of Edwinstowe, next door to Sherwood Forest in a purpose built home that opened in 2016.  We are looking for inspirational individuals who have the right skills and knowledge to work with our  vulnerable children meeting their needs in a professional but fun environment.

Are you motivated, caring and committed to meeting the needs of the children?

Do you have the ability and resilience to work in what can be a rewarding but demanding environment?

You must have experience of working with children in a residential setting.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a residential social care worker.  The post involves working shifts which also include weekends and bank holidays.  The shifts are either earlies or lates on a rota basis, working two weekends out of three.   We offer generous enhanced pay for shift work, enhanced rates for after 8pm working and additional pay for bank holidays and weekends.  For example the weekend hourly rate is £12.42, but with enhancements jumps to £18.63 per hour.   Other enhancements can be explained at interviews.  Some sleep in duties are required, and additional pay is offered for these.  In addition to this, we offer a generous holiday entitlement above statutory requirements.  You will receive a full induction including enrolment on a relevant Level 3 qualification, if one is not already held.

We are a forward thinking, innovative home which prides itself in providing the best possible care for our children ensuring they meet their full potential.  We are proud of our staff team and the successful candidate will receive regular supervision with a senior member of staff.  There are extensive training and development opportunities, which you must be prepared to fully commit to.
