Mainstream Foster Carer leading to Staying Put placements

Fixed Term
Full Time
up to 9 years
Nottinghamshire County Council
up to £600 per week pro rata (equivalent of up to £31k per annum pro rata).

We are looking to recruit a Main stream (full time) foster carer for a 16 year old boy who is currently placed in residential care and can offer a placement up to the age of 25. O is a fun loving 16 yrs old who loves to be busy. He has a good sense of humour and likes to joke with others. O loves music and spending time singing and playing the guitar. O will be attending college from September 2020. O presents much younger that his 16 years and therefore needs care and support that would be offered to a much younger child. O has had a number of different placements throughout his life and had multiple family placements. O is apprehensive about the future and struggles to managed change. He will need continued support beyond the age of 18 and we are looking for a foster carer who would be willing to offer O a staying put placement up to the age of 25 to enable him to develop life skills.

All foster carers are required to undertake training and an assessment as part of the approval process which takes approximately six months from date of application.

Experience of working with young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, either in a related professional context (e.g. teaching, youth work, social care) or as an experienced foster carer is desirable.

Nottinghamshire County Council will offer up to £600 per week pro rata (equivalent of up to £31k per annum pro rata). Once O reaches the age of 18 the staying put payment would be £450 per week. The financial package will be looked at as part of the assessment process and will be based on the skills and experience of the applicant and the needs of the child whom they are being linked to.

If you are an existing foster career for another agency we would be happy to discuss the possibility of you transferring to us.

All foster carers are self-employed and are eligible for generous tax benefits and National Insurance credits which counts towards your State Pension. For further details visit https://www.gov.uk/foster-carers/help-with-the-cost-of-fostering.
