Home-Start Nottingham is a home-visiting scheme offering support and friendship to families with pre-school children going through stressful times. The Family Mentor Service has been commissioned by Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC) which is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund’s ‘A Better Start’ programme to improve the lives of 0-3-year olds.

We require a Family Mentor Manager who would be part of the Home-Start Nottingham team, working from our premises in Aspley Community Centre in Aspley. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the Aspley Hub for the Family Mentor Service; delivering home visiting and group activities to parents with children from pregnancy to their fourth birthday. The over -arching aim of SSBC is to improve language development, nutrition and the social and emotional development of children in this age group and the Family Mentor Service is key in this.

Experience in working with families and children is essential. Experience of recruiting, training and managing paid staff or volunteers is essential. Experience of partnership working is desirable.

Key skills required: leadership; excellent communication both verbal and written; IT skills to a proven high standard; ability to work on own initiative within time schedules; collation of data and report writing.

The successful candidate may be required to work some evenings and weekends. Job share applications will be considered.
