Due to the promotion of our current Deputy Head Teacher, the Governors have seized the opportunity to appoint a new Deputy Head Teacher into the leadership structure from 1st January 2021. We are looking for an outstanding and inspirational practitioner to support the team with confidence and excellence. We are also seeking a driven leader who can provide a positive contribution to the school’s journey through school improvement alongside the Local Authority.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to use their proven skillset and leadership and managerial experience to        support the Head Teacher and staff in developing the school from its current position;
  • Work alongside the Head Teacher in embedding the already successful vision and ‘Rainbow’ values of the school;
  • Work with the Head Teacher to think strategically, through a solution focussed approach, and take a lead role in school improvement;
  • Work with the Senior Management Team to evaluate and monitor the School Improvement Plan and be a pivotal part of self-evaluation;
  • Successfully lead on learning and teaching across the whole school and be aware of the need for creativity in educational practice and approaches;
  • Keep abreast of the changing landscape of education and disseminate this to staff in a supportive and developmental way;
  • Be able to lead on, further embed and enhance the ‘Curriculum of Greasley’ to enthuse and motivate learners, whilst also equipping them for life in the wider world;
  • Work alongside the computing lead to lead on a ‘blended curriculum’ as we face the challenges of children working between school and home during the COVID global pandemic;
  • and support staff with this;
  • Be an outstanding and inspirational practitioner with a commitment to high standards and progress for all children;
  • Have experience of data analysis and be able to use data at all levels to inform school improvement;
  • Be able to create strong partnerships with parents and understand the families of Greasley Beauvale Primary and the school demographics;
  • Be encouraged to form strong links with stakeholders and Governors;
  • Be a strong team member with good communication skills and the ability to motivate, lead and inspire;
  • Be inspirational in new approaches to Learning and Teaching and promoting a growth mind set approach amongst the children and staff, using evidence-based research to support approaches;  
  • Have a willingness to participate in the wider life of the school;
  • Be totally committed and involved in making links and networks with other schools within the community and beyond;
  • Be able to support the Head Teacher and staff throughout any periods of change;
  • Be able to support the behaviour team across school, considering innovative approaches to behaviour management and improvement;
  • Use their managerial experience, and outstanding leadership, to successfully support, mentor and appraise staff;
  • Lead on CPD for teachers;
  • Understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing, whilst also striving for development and improvement.

The successful Deputy Head Teacher will be given Senior Management release time on a weekly basis. Specific responsibilities are negotiable on appointment. The post will include some classroom responsibilities, but depending on the successful applicant, this is to be decided on appointment.
