Due to the success of our existing service, we are looking for a number of Promoting Independence Workers to join the new countywide Notts Enabling Service (NES). This is an exciting opportunity to join a trail blazing team who are changing and developing the way we work with people in Nottinghamshire.

As a Promoting Independence Worker, you will work in a creative and dynamic environment with a forward thinking team which includes; Promoting Independence Workers, Community Independence Workers, a team leader and Coproduction Workers.

As a Promoting Independence Worker, you will focus on improving people’s skills, supporting people to access the community and enabling people to lead enriched lives. This could involve finding opportunities for voluntary/paid work, teaching people how to get around using public transport, teaching cooking skills, connecting individuals with educational or vocational courses, developing or engaging in a range of interests or hobbies. You will work with people for up to 12 weeks, working towards mutually agreed goals.

We are therefore looking for creative and forward thinking individuals who not only think outside the box, but think as if there is no box at all. We need motivated and enthusiastic individuals who will be able to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative.

You will need great interpersonal and communication skills and have a ‘can do’ attitude. We are seeking applicants with patience, empathy and emotional resilience. You need vision and creativity to be a successful Promoting Independence Worker and will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas to the wider development of the service.

You will be offered a comprehensive induction, relevant on-going training and regular supervision. This post will involve visiting people in their own homes, so it is essential to be a car driver with your own vehicle.

1 PIWs for the South NES Team based at Trent Bridge House, West Bridgford, NG2 6BJ. 2 PIW for the North NES team based at Bevercotes House, Sherwood Energy Village, Ollerton, NG22 9FF.
