Nottinghamshire County Council is a Lead Local Flood Authority and we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and flexible individual to work in the Flood Risk Management Team.

Having at least 5 year's experience in flood risk management, drainage or planning and development you will play a key role in delivering strategic flood risk management objectives.  You should have a detailed understanding and experience of flood hydrology, hydraulic modelling, drainage and surface water management responsibilities and how this fits in with the current and future planning and development processes.

You will need good interpersonal skills, be an excellent communicator and comfortable and experienced in negotiating with customers and stakeholders.  You must have a high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to solve problems and meet targets both as an individual and team player.

You will be part of a team responsible for managing flood risk across the communities of Nottinghamshire and will help control the County Council's investment in drainage and flood alleviation.  It will involve partnership working with other organisations such as District Councils, the Environments Agency and Water Companies.  You should be able to work on your own initiative, meet objectives and have a willingness to expand your own knowledge, skills and experience.

In return for your commitment, the Department offers a range of benefits including working in a friendly environment, personal development opportunities, work/life balance policies and practices and a pension scheme.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the environment in Nottinghamshire.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
