We are currently seeking an Advanced Practitioner to work as part of our county wide Youth Justice Interventions Team. This is an exciting opportunity to help further shape and embed this new role within a busy team, working with children and young people on both a voluntary and statutory basis.

The YJ Interventions Team are at the centre of Nottinghamshire Youth Justice Service’s commitment to providing early intervention and preventative services, delivering interventions to improve outcomes for those identified as at risk of offending/anti-social behaviour and in relation to emerging risks around Child Criminal Exploitation. In addition, the team play an integral part in supporting the statutory work of the service and deliver a broad range of quality interventions within our communities and custodial settings. These child-centred relationship-based interventions aim to help children and young people develop important life skills, through non-formal educational activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills coupled with child-centred values. They will have excellent skills in relation to working with young people and families, knowledge and understanding of criminal justice and proven experience of working to address risks and needs within the family setting.

Partnership working is at the core of our work, thus strong communication skills and the ability to work with and influence professionals in a variety of settings is a core skill set.

Core elements of the role include:

• Assisting with the management of day-to-day operations and performance of the Interventions Team in the delivery of statutory and non-statutory interventions.
• Providing regular quality assurance and supervision to case managers assessing, planning and delivering interventions.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of creative interventions.
• Providing oversight of allocation and co-ordination of resources at a local level.
• Working in close liaison with colleagues from other agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people.
• Contributing to and leading on service-wide development and identifying actions to improve service delivery.
• Working with the Interventions Manager to manage the locality team budget

Furthermore, this post requires a formal relevant professional qualification e.g. Qualified Youth Worker, Social worker, Probation Officer or an NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a closely related field.
