We are looking for a capable, enthusiastic and eager to learn student developer.

Working in ICT as a part of an agile development team you’ll be helping to deliver public services more efficiently via the web, call centre, and improving internal systems via our intranet. We work in 2-week sprints using Scrum and Azure Devops to plan our work. The systems we build are focused on lowering the cost of delivering public services and getting value for money for the tax payers of Nottinghamshire.

If you are keen to help transform public services to become more efficient by making better use of web technologies, and to show off a range of the skills listed below, then we want to hear from you. In return we offer flexible working which includes a friendly and supportive office environment. We will provide tools to fulfil the role and the time to further develop your skills.

We work on a wide variety of the Council’s key applications including Mosaic and Firmstep and a number of different front and back end technologies. We use REST web services via WebAPI as the glue between different systems, and Aurelia/Angular, asp.net Core MVC, and Umbraco as our primary front-end technologies. Our version control, build and release pipelines are all handled by Azure Devops. We value adaptability, an ability to learn and a positive approach to the continually changing environment in which we work.

Skills/Experience we need (the more the merrier):

Firmstep Platform, Umbraco, .net Core 2, ASP.net MVC, WebAPI, C#, SQL Server, Razor, IIS, Bootstrap 4, HTML 5, CSS 3, Visual Studio, Resharper, SOAP/REST Web services, version control, GIT, Azure Devops (Scrum/Agile, Version control, Build, Release), Mosaic.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
