North Ashfield Behaviour and Attendance Trust, c/o Kirkby College, Tennyson Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 7DH
£16, 231 - £17,714 FTE

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about helping children to remove the barriers to learning, raise their aspirations and help them achieve their full potential. Working in our dynamic centre for alternative provision, the Learning Mentor will be a role model for our students, and provide on-going intervention and support.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Learning Mentor is to act as ‘on call’ support to teaching staff and to intervene as required. The successful candidate will work with their colleagues to devise strategies of support for individual students, and by putting the needs of the student first, will help them to develop the tools required to access their education.

Alongside the pastoral role, the Learning Mentor will have the opportunity to develop provision for students based on an interest or area of expertise.

Additionally, The Learning Mentor operates the KS4 minibus service to and from the centre.

We welcome applications from experienced learning mentors or from those with other relevant experience of supporting young people from a range of backgrounds. This may prove an ideal opportunity to gain valuable professional experience prior to moving into teacher training.

Visits to our centre are welcome.

An opportunity to join our exciting new provision

The Trust is the incorporation of the School Behaviour and Attendance Partnership (SBAP) in North Ashfield. To date, the partnership between Ashfield School, Kirkby College, Quarrydale Academy and Sutton Community Academy has been extremely effective in lowering permanent exclusion rates and supporting young people at risk of permanent exclusion. However, our work isn’t exclusively about behaviour; we support students from a variety of backgrounds, and with a wide range of issues that often make access to mainstream education a challenging prospect.

The partnership established the highly successful SPACE Learning Centre over four years ago, providing intervention and alternative education in North Ashfield. Owing to the introduction of a new KS4 programme, the centre has expanded to offer better provision for young people in North Ashfield.
