The Spencer Academies Trust is a medium sized Trust which exists to make sure that every child, regardless of background, has access to a great education and real choices in life. Our highly-successful network of 10 schools (3 Secondary and 7 Primary) educates students across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Nottingham City, Derby City and Leicestershire. Dame Susan Jowett is the Chief Executive Officer. Fraser Mitchell is the secondary education lead and Angela O’ Brien leads primary education. All three are National Leaders of Education.

Chetwynd Primary Academy, part of the Spencer Academies Trust, is a ‘good’ school with ‘outstanding’ elements, having an excellent reputation within the local community. We are a friendly school with a great team ethos, both working with children and each other. We continually strive for high standards in school, but still have time for fun and enjoyment. We can offer wonderful children, a hardworking and supportive team, ongoing professional development and an active and interested Governing Body.  

Following the completion of our new classrooms we are now able to increase our pupil capacity. We are now able to offer one vacancy to which we wish to recruit an excellent practitioner, who thinks children are wonderful, has high expectations and standards and who finds a primary school an exciting place to teach. You are invited to join our dynamic, forward thinking and family centered school. This appointment will commence on 1st September 2017. 

Applications from NQTs are welcomed and this post will initially be based in Year 4.


Applications are invited from excellent, talented Primary practitioners to join our team. You must have high expectations of yourself and all children and the role will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the learning and achievement of your class.
  • Being passionate about children’s learning and wellbeing, and be reflective in your practice.
  • Forming excellent relationships with the pupils, parents, colleagues and governors.
  • Having sound knowledge and experience in effective planning and use of assessment and recording.
  • Having a clear vision for school improvement and an unfailing commitment to raising standards.
  • A willingness to participate fully in the life of the school.
