Nottinghamshire’s Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards team is positive about change and has responded swiftly to the increased need for Best Interests Assessors (BIA). We have a dynamic team, which is seeking to expand and employ a number of qualified BIAs and trainees, on a permanent basis. These new posts are open to experienced social workers and occupational therapists.

The DoLS team is based at Sutton in Ashfield, where you will be provided with a supportive team environment and opportunity to develop your practice through regular BIA forums and refresher training to keep you up to date with case law and practice. You will also be able to work flexibly from home and other work bases.

Nottinghamshire is committed to offering opportunities both for qualified BIAs, and experienced staff who will join the DoLS team and train as BIAs. Your post will be in the central DoLS team and for trainees, in addition to the academic course, your training programme will include spending time working in the DoLS team and district team.   This is a new initiative, and an exciting opportunity for you to excel in a highly rewarding area of work.

You will be able to work flexibly and confidently, and be willing to broaden your experience and develop the skills to work across a number of specialist service areas including Older Adults, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Physical Disabilities. We are looking for energetic and highly motivated people with excellent communication skills and a sound knowledge of relevant legislation who can work effectively with a wide range of agencies to ensure better outcomes for service users.
