Senior Teacher Dyslexia
We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced teacher to our hard working and successful Cognition and Learning Team, part of Nottinghamshire’s Schools and Families Specialist Services. The successful candidate would work alongside our existing Senior Teacher for Dyslexia for one day per week, starting in September 2021 or as soon as possible after.
This post holder (working alongside our existing post holder) would be responsible for leading and coordinating advice and support to schools, parents and other settings regarding dyslexia, together with a range of other specific difficulties.
You would be using your knowledge, skills and experience to advise and support effective strategies/ interventions aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people with specific difficulties.
You would be working at a variety of levels, using positive and inclusive approaches to provide support and advice to school staff, liaising with parents and at times, engaging in direct teaching where appropriate. However, the majority of the work is at a strategic level and involves a high degree of training and support for initiatives such as Dyslexia Friendly Schools. The successful candidate would also take a role in providing support to Nottinghamshire’s Family of School structure through District SENCOs, Family SENCos and SENCos in order to strengthen provision for pupils with Dyslexia.
In order to continue to improve provision and outcomes for pupils with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, we are looking for a teacher who is suitably qualified, highly knowledgeable about current research and experienced regarding assessments and interventions and the barriers young people face.
You will be based with a very supportive team but working across the other teams within Schools and Families Specialists Services and the County as required. Your base will depend upon the needs of the team, but initially will be Home Brewery, Arnold. Please note the base may change in the near future. The post carries an authorised car user allowance.
This is a part-time, fixed term or secondment opportunity for one day per week, initially for three terms. Please ensure you have the agreement of your line manager if applying on a secondment basis.
