We are seeking to appoint a Head of Year to provide pastoral leadership to a year group at The Farnborough Academy by applying professional knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes that enable pupils to develop and learn effectively. Skills in leadership, decision-making, communication and self-management will be essential as will be the ability to display successful impact, adaptability, initiative and perseverance.

The academy has recently become part of the Spencer Academy Trust which is one of the largest in the East Midlands consisting of 8 secondary and 9 primary schools. With anticipated future growth, including the construction of new schools, nearly 20,000 East Midlands’ pupils and students will be educated in the Trust by 2020.

We are particularly proud of the dramatic improvement in GCSE results at Farnborough at August 2018. They were the best results the academy has ever had and confirm Farnborough is one of the most improved schools in Nottingham. This means more of our pupils than ever have been able to access college courses and apprenticeships at the highest level.

You will have a key role in contributing to school improvement, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and across the other academies in the Spencer Academies Trust.

To succeed in this role, you will have proven skills to inspire and motivate both pupils and colleagues. You will be creative as well as inspirational and committed to your own professional development. You will be able to lead by example to make an immediate impact on the progress of pupils. Most of all you will love learning and want to recreate this in young people.

The diversity within the Trust provides fantastic opportunities for all colleagues to develop their practice and skills through networking and working co-operatively with colleagues across the academies.

We are committed to providing high quality training and development opportunities for all staff which will provide you with regular opportunities to work in partnership with other subject and senior leaders.
