An opportunity to join our existing outstanding team within Clayfields House Secure Children’s Home

Help us make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable, challenged and challenging young people in the country.  We believe that every young person can achieve positive change and we need 2 highly skilled positive thinkers and outstanding teachers to join our education team working with young people who are secured on criminal or welfare grounds. We offer an intensive multidisciplinary service to a maximum of 18 young people, male and female nationally aged 10 to 18 years placed with us either on criminal grounds or on welfare grounds because they are a risk to themselves or others.  Our latest Ofsted inspection has rated Clayfields House as “Outstanding” as a centre, the education provision has been “Outstanding” now for 7 years running. If you are child centred, positive and an expert practitioner we would like to hear from you. For both of these positions you will need to be highly organised, flexible and unruffled by a rapidly changing environment.  You will need to have experience of working with incredibly challenging young people who experience a wide range of severe social care, special educational and mental health needs.

You will report to The Head of Education and be responsible for the day to day running of the education department in an intensive multi-disciplinary unit.  You will have a teaching commitment of up to 3 days per week and curriculum responsibility for an area as well as your management duties, you will also contribute to assessment, recording and planning for young people in the centre.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
