Job Summary

Clayfields House, located just a few miles from the M1, is a Secure Children’s Home licensed by the Department of Health. We provide high quality care, support and education for young people aged 10-18 from various backgrounds and circumstance who require secure accommodation. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Night Care Assistant to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will play a vital part in the lives of young people, helping them feel safe and cared for during the night. You will participate in their bedtime routines, monitor their welfare, operate security systems, and carry out some domestic tasks. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, supportive and positive care to all resident children and young people.
  • Participate in the bedtime routines of young people.
  • Monitor the welfare and safety of young people overnight.
  • Operate security systems to ensure a safe environment.
  • Perform domestic tasks as needed to maintain the unit.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of child development and care needs.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours, including on weekends and bank holidays.
  • Experience in a care or support role (not essential but beneficial)

Soft Skills

  • Empathy, understanding and compassion towards young people's needs.
  • Teamwork to work collaboratively with colleagues to provide the best care.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young people and team members.
  • The ability to take ownership of your duties and ensure the safety of young people.

 Additional Information

  • This position involves working on a rota basis every night of the year from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
  • We offer generous enhancements for shift work, including additional pay for hours worked after 8 pm, weekends, and bank holidays. This can significantly increase your annual earnings.
