Be part of a high-performing team of natural and historic environment specialists at Nottinghamshire County Council. As a Planning Archaeologist, you will play a vital role in preserving Nottinghamshire's archaeological heritage. This two-year position offers a rare opportunity to provide expert advice on development proposals and policies that impact our archaeological resource.

In this exciting role, you will:

  • Advise on development proposals and planning policies affecting archaeology.
  • Collaborate with planning teams, developers and other historic environment specialists, including Historic England.
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation and national/ local policies and guidance.
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and recommendations to protect Nottinghamshire's archaeological heritage.
  • Engage with stakeholders and communities to promote understanding and awareness of the archaeology of Nottinghamshire.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in archaeology or a related field.
  • Experience in providing planning advice related to archaeology.
  • Knowledge of British archaeology and current archaeological policies and practices.
  • Proficiency in using IT applications, including Historic Environment Records.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills to convey complex information effectively.
