Join us to make a difference to the education some of the most complex, vulnerable and challenging children in the country. 

Clayfields House is a national resource 20 bed Secure Children’s Home providing education, secure accommodation, intervention and treatment for children between 10 –18 years. Children are placed with us through the youth justice system, on remand or sentenced for serious offences. Our children experience complex and very challenging behaviours, emotional and mental health needs and a wide variety of additional learning needs.

Education provision at Clayfields House has been judged “outstanding” by Ofsted for over 10 years. We provide a full time education and broad curriculum. Due to the increasingly complex needs of our students we are expanding the number of teaching assistants we employ. Amongst the other items of the person specification applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • Successful experience of working with children who have highly challenging behaviour and complex emotional and mental health needs and a wide variety of additional learning needs.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Physical and academic ability to support in lessons across the curriculum including in PE lessons.
  • Emotional resilience and ability to empathise with and support the most special and challenging of children day in and day out to make a real difference in their lives.

Working hours will be 32.5 hours per week term time only: 

  • 08.45 to 16.00 Monday
  • 08.45 to 16.30 Tuesday
  • 08.45 to 17.00 Wednesday
  • 08.45 to 16.15 Thursday
  • 08.45 to 15.30 Friday

School holidays apply but are taken at different intervals to mainstream schools according to the needs of the centre. Hours and holiday dates are non negotiable due to the needs of the centre.

Rates of pay for this post are dependant on experience: 

Qualified        Grade 4 £19,945 - £22,462 p.a.

Unqualified    Grade 3 £18,795 - £19,554 p.a.
