Nottinghamshire County Council recognises the essential contribution which Occupational Therapists make towards preventing and reducing the ongoing support needs of people referred for personal care.The post holder will be required to work within the short term assessment and reablement team (START) but may also be required to cover other service areas within the STIS team to work flexibly to meet the service demands.Occupational Therapists are integral members of the START service, which supports hospital discharges and reduces the risk of hospital and care home admissions, together with preventing or reducing the need for ongoing homecare support.START Occupational Therapists apply their specialist skills to:-assess individuals functional abilities, needs and potential for independence-design and implement reablement programmes that are person centred, have clear goals and are tailored to the individuals needs -demonstrate appropriate rehabilitative techniques to service users, carers and staff in order to maximise independence-contribute to the training of reablement support workers.

This post is based at Lawn View House in Sutton in Ashfield and covers the Mansfield and Ashfield districts. Advanced remote working technology is provided to maximise efficiency, minimise travel and support work/life balance. Line management and supervision are provided by a qualified Occupational Therapist, and excellent peer support exists. The post is graded at bands A and B depending on experience.
