Recently rated as Good by OFSTED, Nottinghamshire County Council’s Children’s Services are currently recruiting to a range of social work roles across the county. OFSTED noted that “morale amongst social workers in Nottinghamshire is high” and this is a testament to the package that we offer.

We currently have Supervising Social Worker posts in the Fostering Service, both in the Central mainstream team and in the countywide Short Breaks for Disabled Children team. Applicants will be enthusiastic, creative and flexible with a recognised social work qualification (including HCPC Registration) and significant knowledge and experience of safeguarding children. You will have excellent assessment skills and the ability to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining confidentiality. Recording, report-writing and IT skills are essential requirements, along with an ability to work on your own initiative and as an effective member of a team.

As a supervising social worker you will be responsible for a team of foster carers, so will have an ability to lead, supervise and challenge. Applicants must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and have an understanding and commitment to the County Council’s Equal opportunities policy. Applicants will have a good working knowledge of the relevant legislative framework that informs our work. You will have significant knowledge and a capacity to use theoretical frameworks to promote attachment-focused parenting.

Appointment to these posts is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, and registration with the HCPC.

The posts involve widespread travel from your base, and carry an authorised car user allowance or taxi service for disabled people.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
