This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people on both a voluntary and statutory basis, contributing towards the work of the service in helping to reduce problems of anti-social behaviour and contributing towards the Youth Justice Services aim of reducing the number of young people entering the criminal justice system.

The YJ Interventions Team are at the centre of Nottinghamshire Youth Justice Service’s commitment to providing early intervention and preventative services, delivering interventions to improve outcomes for those identified as at risk of offending/anti-social behaviour and in relation to emerging risks around Child Criminal Exploitation.

In addition, the team play an integral part in supporting the statutory work of the service and deliver a broad range of quality interventions within our communities and custodial settings. These child-centred relationship-based interventions aim to help children and young people develop important life skills, through non-formal educational activities.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to achieving real change in people’s lives. They will have strong interpersonal skills, coupled with child-centred values. They will have excellent skills in relation to working with young people and families, knowledge and understanding of criminal justice and proven experience of working to address risks and needs within the family setting.

Core elements of the role will include:

  • Planning and delivering intervention to children and young people, either one to one or as part of a group.
  • Gathering, evaluating and assessing information for use in the preparation of structured assessments and reports.
  • Working independently, being able to prioritise work and meet set deadlines.
  • Working in close liaison with colleagues from other agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people.
