The council has a commitment to supporting career development using apprenticeships. We are pleased to be able to announce that we intend to start the recruitment for 5 degree level apprenticeship posts across the county, to commence in January 2021.

These three-year, full time social work apprentice posts will be based in District Child Protection Teams across the county, the majority of your time will be working in your team with approximately one day of formal study per week and student placements in alternative social work teams.

All applicants must have a Maths and English qualification at GCSE/level 2 and they will be required to successfully complete a level 2 numeracy and literacy functional skills test with the University. It is essential that all applications are submitted with certificates / proof of qualification.

The apprenticeship salary model will pay a percentage of the starting salary of a newly qualified social worker, for each year of the apprenticeship, 75% in year 1, 80% in year 2 and 85% in year 3. This reflects the skills, knowledge and behaviour the apprentice will develop each year.
