The Pensions Office is responsible for providing a full Pension Scheme benefits administration service for members, beneficiaries, deferred members and pensioners of the Nottinghamshire Local Government Pension Scheme. This is a statutory scheme which covers employees within the Local Government Pension Scheme across the County.

The post of the Practitioner Pensions Administration provides first line support, supervision and guidance to a team of Pensions Assistants in regard to the provision of the Pensions Administration service. The main duties require the post holder to supervise the processing of Local Government Pension Scheme benefits including, the processing of retirements, deaths, transfers and leaver benefits using the pensions administration system, along with ensuring the compliance against the Local Government Pension Regulations.

The role also involves providing support to the Senior Practitioner and Pensions Manager in the operation of the pension’s administration service. This requires the review and ongoing development of administration processes in order to develop the service. The role would also require the post holder to be involved in the Pensions Office’s response and adaptation to changing regulations.

The person appointed will be required to communicate complex regulations, and information to members of staff and members of the pension scheme. The post holder will need to demonstrate a practical working knowledge of calculating and processing benefits, with a sound understanding, and thorough knowledge of pension scheme issues. The role requires 3 years knowledge and experience of working within a Pensions, HR or Payroll environment and working knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme is desirable. Experience of supervising and supporting a team and working in a customer focused environment is also required.
