The Public Health division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services, works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population, and reduces health inequalities.

We now have two vacancies for experienced public health professionals to join our team. The first is primarily to support the functions and activities of the Health and Wellbeing Board whilst the other is primarily to support the commissioning of Sexual Health Services.

The Health and Wellbeing Board role is offered up to a 0.9 full time equivalent post (33.3 hours) on a fixed term basis until 2 October 2020. The sexual health role is offered as a full time equivalent post (37 hours) on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2020. The hours of these posts may be subject to change based on requests made by preferred candidates.

Please state clearly your preference for either one or both roles as part of your application.

Qualified to degree level (or able to demonstrate substantial experience equivalent in breadth and rigour to degree level), you must have relevant experience in Public Health or related work as well as experience of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others.

You will be a good communicator with well-developed planning and problem-solving skills, highly organised and flexible.

For the sexual health role, we are looking for someone familiar with sexual health policy and priorities for a local authority, and experience of achieving change through working with NHS and other partners.

The Health and Wellbeing Board role will suit someone with initiative who is keen to work proactively and closely with elected members and senior officers to progress various agendas within the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This includes the development of agendas for board meetings and the coordination of partner contributions and content for Health and Wellbeing Board workshops.

The post holders will be primarily based at County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham.

This post may be available as a secondment opportunity for existing County Council employees. Applicants selected for interview should secure agreement from their manager for the secondment prior to interview.

Requests for flexible working will be considered and a job share scheme is also available. Nottinghamshire County Council has an NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.

For an informal discussion about these posts, please contact Nick Romilly on 0115 9773032 (sexual health) or Jonathan Gribbin on 0115 9772863 (Health and Wellbeing Board).

Interviews will be held on 12 July 2019.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
