Nottinghamshire County Council’s Schools’ Swimming Service are seeking two enthusiastic and well-motivated Senior Practitioners’ School Swimming, to support the Team Manager, Logistics and Operations Technical Specialist, Sessional Senior Instructor’s and Swimming Instructors/ Lifeguards in ensuring that Schools’ Swimming Service maintains a safe and secure standard of provision for both schools, pupils, staff and public. The post will assist in ensuring that all pool hire, transport and the provision of staff is fit for purpose and complies with all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and guidance included within the Management of Health and Safety in Swimming Pools HSE 179. Help maintain the Schools’ Swimming Service Budget in line with Nottinghamshire County Council financial regulations with particular responsibility for the specific area that the individual is lead for.

You must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be sensitive to the confidential nature of the work and competent at day to day problem solving in order to manage the operational needs of the service across the county. Particularly in relation to the area that the individual is lead for.

You will be required to support the Team Manager with recruitment of staff in accordance with Industry Guidelines and in line with NCC HR processes. You must always demonstrate excellent customer care skills and communicate effectively, whilst maintaining confidentiality and acting within the Data Protection Act and within the GDPR Guidelines.

You will ensure schools in Nottinghamshire have the opportunity to access swimming, to facilitate their requirement to meet the statutory element of the national curriculum and to explore further means of income generation.

You will have excellent IT skills and a good working knowledge of MS applications and databases; Have an excellent aptitude for prioritising and organising your workload; be financially numerate; ideally have worked in a local government setting and have a good knowledge of swimming related issues and health and safety compliance.

The Base for this post will be at County Hall in West Bridgford, however you will be expected to go out to the pools to conduct assessments, health and safety checks, deal with complaints etc.

Due to fixed closure periods within the service some annual leave will need to be taken during these times.
