We are looking for a qualified OT with 2 yrs experience at Band B or equivalent to join our recently formed multi-specialism team as Senior Practitioner OT. The team works across the Broxtowe district with adults who have complex physical needs and long-term conditions. This can include co-morbidities of learning disability, mental health diagnoses and autistic spectrum disorder. This work is underpinned by a strengths based approach, supporting people to develop or maintain their independence, to reduce reliance on services and live the lives they choose. OTs within the team are central to the success of this approach.

As clinical lead for OTs and unqualified CCO OTs within the team you will provide supervision and ensure professional standards are maintained. You will support the OTs with continued professional development, including ASYE and progression from Band A to B.

Alongside this you will carry a small caseload of complex cases. This will include occupational therapy assessments, activity analysis, graded goal setting, environmental risk assessments, moving and handling assessments. A good working knowledge of Disabled facilities Grants for major adaptation work as well as standard and specialist equipment is needed.

You will work with the other SPOTs across the Broxtowe. Gedling and Rushcliffe locality and countywide, to develop working practices between OT and social care staff, and to embed the specialism within the new teams, supporting the team managers to ensure service delivery. You will look outside of the team to develop links with local community health professionals, housing and other local services. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the promotion of the OT role within the new locality based structure.
