Adult Social Care and Health
£27,741 - £36,922 per annum

The Maximising Independence Service is a new service in Adult Social Care which is focused on early resolution, prevention and promoting independence and wellbeing for all people.

We are looking for creative and forward-thinking Occupational Therapists to join us and have specific countywide single handed care therapists vacancies in our Mid MIS enablement team.

In many ways this is a non-traditional, broad spectrum role for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists with endless opportunities to work with people creatively, putting them at the very heart of everything we do. We aim for our workers to stay with a person from their initial enquiry through their journey with us. We will signpost and give advice in a timely way to those that need it and have a repertoire of in-service assets to draw upon to achieve the best outcomes for those that need something more. Our practice is focused on a strengths-based approach & using a conversational style to help people ascertain what a good life looks like to them and what help they feel they need.

We would like to hear from you whether you are an experienced Occupational Therapist or newly qualified and keen to learn.

You will work with people of all ages, across all disabilities and be free of some of the usual practice constraints.

To be successful, your values and creativity will be key in promoting the principles of choice and control, personalisation and self-directed support to enable people to achieve their optimum outcomes. You will work in a multi-skilled and varied workforce in a fast paced, supportive team.

Unlike the vacancies in the North & South MIS teams, the successful applicants for the Occupational Therapy vacancies in Mid MIS will exclusively work in our Single-Handed Care Team but will be managed by our specialism in the mid MIS team. The successful applicants will therefore work, and be based across the North, Mid and South of the county to ensure equity and countywide service delivery. You will be improving levels of independence, support and dignity to ensure everyone has a tailor made moving and handling plan and care package. You will look at someone’s support holistically and determine if there are opportunities to re-design the support given by working with the person and their carers to agree goals and outcomes. As part of this you will be working with, supporting and educating our partner agencies. If you apply for the countywide single handed occupational therapist vacancies, it would be really useful if you could state this on your application form and which geographical area you would ideally like to work across (i.e. North, mid or South), although flexibility for all of the MIS roles will always be required to ensure people get the help they need in a timely way.

Successful applicants will be active contributors and will be encouraged to develop these roles to be the best that they can be.

You will receive regular supervision both formally and informally from an Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner and will be supported to attend training to progress your career and meet the HCPC’s CPD requirements. There will be opportunities to expand your knowledge and competencies, project work and service exploration based on your strengths and career aspirations. You must have excellent communication and IT skills. You must be good at motivating others and be able to support others through change.

Applicants must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC. For Band B requirements you must have at least 2 years’ experience as a qualified OT.

For an informal discussion, please contact the relevant MIS team manager for an informal discussion; Mid MIS – Denise Dopson 01158042580

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.
