In Nottinghamshire we work together to make a big difference – making sure we focus on local people and enabling them to enjoy a good life through quality care and support. It is a good place to work and we've built a culture where we respond flexibly to solve challenges with a strong team ethos alongside individual ownership.

Nottinghamshire County Council is predicting an increase in population and has recognised health inequality across the county. There has never been a more important time to ensure that independence and wellbeing are promoted, that residents are given choice and control, and that value for money is present for all Nottinghamshire’s residents.

We have worked hard in Adult Social Care and Health to reset adult social care, alongside implementing emergency models of service to cope with Covid-19 and maintain safe services. Adult Social Care will not be the same again and there is now a huge opportunity to reimagine and reshape how we support people to lead a good life.

Following retirement of the current postholder, we are now looking for a Group Manager Ageing Well Community Services to cover South Nottinghamshire (operational social care teams for people aged 65 and over).

We are looking to recruit a visible, kind and authentic leader who encourages diversity and different perspectives. We are seeking someone who is innovative and constantly looking at ways to improve; who embodies a can-do attitude and will be prepared to challenge and intervene effectively to ensure that there is a sharp focus on outcomes rather than just measuring numbers.

Group Manager, Ageing Well Community Services, South Nottinghamshire

The main elements of this role include:

  • responsibility for leading and managing the Ageing Well Community social care teams across South Nottinghamshire
  • leading work with local partners in the area, including for example with Health and District Councils on the further development of local integrated care teams linked to Primary Care Networks and place based working
  • developing and managing the departmental response to living and working with Covid-19
  • progressing savings programmes, with a focus on embedding strength based practice and processes to, for example, reduce the number of inappropriate days older adults spend in residential care
  • supporting resilience and well-being in the workforce.

The post will have responsibility for managing and monitoring a budget between £20- £30 million, will manage a minimum of 7 direct reports, and have overall responsibility for a service comprised of approximately 70—100 fte staff.

The recruitment is in two stages with an initial technical interview stage being undertaken by Reed external recruitment agency.  If you are interested in applying then please complete a short application form by 12pm on Monday 14th December.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role then please contact my PA Mandy Snowden on T: 0115 97 74671; E:mandy.snowden@nottscc.gov.uk to arrange a call.

Attached is a copy of the job description and person specification and below, links to the Adult Social Care Strategy and the Council’s current Strategic Plan for your information.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
