Have you been working for Nottinghamshire County Council for 2 or more years? Are you currently employed on a permanent contract with Adult Social Care? Are you passionate about wanting to train to become a Occupational Therapist? Can you demonstrate significant experience of working in Adult Social Care? Are you flexible and self-directed in your learning, with a commitment to your own professional development?

If so, the council has a commitment to supporting career development using apprenticeships. We are pleased to be able to announce that we intend to start the recruitment for two supernumerary level 6-degree apprenticeship posts across the county, to commence in January 2021.

The Occupational Therapist apprenticeship opportunity has attracted a lot of interest and we anticipate that it will be a highly competitive recruitment process. Please ensure you check the university website to establish the level 6-degree university entry requirements before applying for these apprenticeship posts. Here is a link to the UCAS points calculator

It is a requirement for all apprenticeships to have Maths and English at GCSE level 2 and they will be required to successfully complete a level 2 numeracy and literacy functional skills test with the University.

The pay scale for these posts is a % increase of the qualified worker starting salary, for each of the 3 years of study. This reflects that the apprentice develops their skills, knowledge and behaviour each year they are in post.

There will be a two-pronged recruitment and selection process:

1. You MUST apply to the university that NCC have procured the courses from and successfully progress through the University screening and course interview process, which is  Sheffield University

2. An application MUST then be completed on the internal vacancy page, the person should meet the shortlisting criteria for interview and provide a supporting statement for their Team Manager. This is a document below that must be downloaded completed by your existing line manager and uploaded to the CV field of the online application before submitting. (for assistance with this please contact the recruitment team on 0115 9772727 opt 1 opt 1 opt 2)

Please note, if you are not successful with the university application the apprenticeship post will not be offered.

Contact Cate Bennett (Principal Occupational Therapist) via email cate.bennett@nottscc.gov.uk to express your interest and for support with the application process.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
