Are you interested in a rewarding job that makes a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults in our community and supports their independence? Are you someone who enjoys a challenge? If so, then read on.

Nottinghamshire County Council has been named the country’s most improved County Council in services for older people and people with disabilities (report by iMPOWER Consulting, 2018). We want to recruit Community Care Officers to join our pool of committed and professional staff who can be called upon to fill our vacancies and join our Adult Social Care teams.

Based in the Short Term Independence Service, Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Gedling, you will be working within a Multi-disciplinary team comprising Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Community Care Officers where we work alongside our health colleagues to support people needing intermediate care/step up or step down/Reablement intervention.

The team work with service users who need support in order to regain skills either in their own home, in an Assessment bed/flat setting or, in a Care Home setting. We work to encourage confidence where our goal is for the individual to return home where they can live as independently as possible; usually where accident or illness has caused them to lose the ability to do the things that they used to do.

About You:

You will have some experience of working with members of the public and the ability to work with people with complex needs. You will have experience of either paid employment or voluntary work in a caring and supportive environment and be able to undertake reviews and assessments. You will have the opportunity to work alongside social workers and other professionals to promote an individual’s independence and well-being. A full driving licence is required and access to a car for which mileage will be paid.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
