We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic team players to join our dynamic Trading Standards Service to help shape and drive our service forward.

Centrally located and with great road, rail and air transport links, our historic county offers scenic countryside and bustling towns and surrounds the city of Nottingham itself, making it a great place to live in and fulfil your ambitions.

Nottinghamshire has a proud record in developing and advancing the careers of its Trading Standards Officers. As a large authority, we are well placed to provide a very broad range of experience coupled with great support and mentoring. We enjoy high levels of recognition locally, regionally, and nationally, and are proud to host the National Trading Standards Regional Investigations Team for the East Midlands.

We are at the forefront in developing the role played by Trading Standards, combining a range of innovative, problem solving approaches to protecting our communities, including major investigations and scams work, with a dedicated commercial team focused on providing support to a large and growing number of businesses, many of whom are in Primary Authority partnerships.

You will hold the DCATS or equivalent Trading Standards qualification and be able to demonstrate successful achievement across a good range of Trading Standards subject areas. You should be committed to professional development, willing to embrace learning opportunities and prepared to be involved in a wide variety of work to meet the needs of the Service.

If you have Trading Standards experience and are part-qualified and seeking to complete your studies towards your Trading Standards qualification we’d still like to talk to you about how we can help develop you further.

You will have excellent communication skills and will be as comfortable identifying and maximising commercial income opportunities as you are with undertaking traditional public protection work. In return we can offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and experience. Relocation assistance is available in appropriate circumstances. Our excellent ICT equipment and flexible working practices provide extensive opportunities for home and remote working so home location need not be a barrier to applying.

If you are ready to take your career to the next level and want to help support and lead colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for our communities then we’d like to hear from you.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to ensure that it goes beyond the requirements of the Equalities Act and prides itself on being accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

Therefore, the County Council encourages applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy and maternity status, age or sexual orientation.
