This is an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer to work within the Adult Deaf and Visual Impairment Service (ADVIS) which is part of Adult Social Care & Health within Nottinghamshire County Council. This is a temporary position with a requirement to complete the apprenticeship over approximately two and a half years whilst attending Birmingham City University on block release to study for this foundation degree.  The postholder will work 26 hours per week starting at an unqualified Rehabilitation Officer grade but with a requirement to work 30 hours per week during the block placements at University to meet the University required standard. As you progress within the apprenticeship you will undertake specialist assessments of the rehabilitation needs of visually impaired and/or dual sensory impaired people and be aware of their carers needs. On successful completion of the apprenticeship and achieving the qualification, the postholder will be employed as a permanent Qualified Rehabilitation Officer for 26 hours per week.

ADVIS is a multi-disciplinary team of Social Workers, Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officers, Technical Officers for Deaf people and Dual Sensory Communicator guides. ADVIS are a county wide team and work across Older Adults, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Physical Disabilities. The ultimate aim of the service is to ensure visually impaired people can live independently at home by delivering rehabilitation services.
