Nottinghamshire has a strong track record of delivering a high quality, robust response to managing allegations against those who work or worked with children. As part of a drive for continuous improvement, we have redesigned our service to bring together our response to both contemporaneous and historical/non-recent allegations, with the aim of further improving the quality and consistency of response across all aspects of the work. The new service will encompass all operational aspects relating to investigations, including a safeguarding response to allegations made within civil claims. Key to the service will be providing an excellent response to complainants including adult survivors of historical/non-recent abuse.

We are now seeking to appoint a dedicated team manager for the new service. This will involve the line management of a small team of social workers (2.5fte) who will be responsible for investigations into both contemporaneous and historical/non-recent allegations against people who work or worked with children. You will take responsibility for the work of the team and have a lead role in working together with a range of agencies including the police, notably in complex historical/non-recent abuse allegations.

You will need to be able to work productively with colleagues both internally and externally at a variety of levels. You will require the skills to be able to work in what can be a challenging environment, particularly when managing the complexities inherent in working in an historical/non-recent abuse context, dealing with both criminal and civil claim processes.

You will need to be able to work on their own initiative, have good negotiation and communication skills and be competent in IT.

This is an exciting opening for an experienced child care manager looking for the opportunity to further develop management and leadership skills and be involved at the beginning in shaping the development of this new service.
