This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the Adult Deaf and Visual Impairment Service (ADVIS)

ADVIS is a multi-disciplinary service of Social Workers, Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officers, Enablement Officers for people who are Deaf or experiencing hearing loss and Promoting Independence Workers who work with people who are Deafblind and Deaf BSL users. ADVIS is based at Sherwood Energy Village in Ollerton, however, the team covers the whole of Nottinghamshire County and works with adults of all ages including people with, learning disabilities, mental ill health, physical disabilities and with age related frailty. 

The team are enthusiastic, supportive, and committed to improving the lives of people in Nottinghamshire living with Sight loss, Deafness or Dual Sensory loss. Our  ultimate aim is to ensure people with sensory needs can live independently and safely at home by delivering rehabilitation and social care support.

As a Community Care Officer, you will undertake assessment conversations, supporting people in strength-based way to achieve positive outcomes. You will be enthusiastic, motivated, and organised in your approach to delivering a quality service and be confident in making sound decisions.

You will be competent in communicating with people using our services, carers, and other professional colleagues. We would welcome applications from people who are able to communicate in British Sign Language or who would be willing to learn this skill.

You will be given a comprehensive induction to this specialist role and training and regular supervision will be provided.

Whilst the team is based at Sherwood Energy Village in Ollerton, you will be required to work across the whole of the county. The team work flexibly, working from different County Council buildings or working from home. You will have a driving licence and access to a vehicle unless disability precludes you from driving.
