The Big House is an eight bedded short break home for children with significant learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. We are based in the village of Edwinstowe, next door to Sherwood Forest in a purpose-built home that opened in 2016.

We are looking for inspirational individuals who have the right skills and knowledge to work with the most vulnerable service users, meeting their physical, emotional and health care needs. 

Are you motivated, caring and committed to meeting the needs of the children you care for as well as having the ability and resilience to work in what can be a very physically and emotionally challenging environment? 

You must have experience of working with children, young people or adults in either a voluntary, work or other relevant setting. 

This post is on a 12-month temporary basis to cover maternity leave. The post involves working shifts which include weekends and bank holidays. The shifts are either 7am – 2:30pm, 7am – 11am or 2pm – 10pm on a rota basis. 

We also offer enhanced pay for shift work including – generous holiday entitlement above statutory requirements, full induction including enrolment on a relevant Level 3 qualification if one is not already held. 

We are a forward thinking, innovative home which prides itself in providing the best possible care for children and young people ensuring they meet their full potential. We are also proud of our staff team and the successful candidate with receive regular supervision with a senior member of staff. There are extensive training and development opportunities, which you must be prepared to fully commit to.
