We are currently seeking a Team Manager to lead our South Nottinghamshire locality Youth Justice team. First rate communication skills coupled with a commitment to Child First values will be essential. Partnership working is at the core of Youth Justice work, thus the ability to work with, and influence, professionals in a variety of settings is a central undertaking of the role.

The successful candidate will also have excellent skills in relation to working with young people and families, sound knowledge of criminal justice and proven experience of working to address risks and needs within the family setting.

Main elements of the role include:

  • To manage the day-to-day operations and performance of the South Youth Justice Team
  • To take a lead on development, performance and liaison in the areas of Transitions and the Courts
  • To work with the YJS CSM to manage the locality team budget
  • To manage a case management team, a Seconded Probation Officer, and work in close liaison with colleagues from other agencies
  • To contribute to service-wide development and identify actions to improve service delivery and outcomes

Furthermore, this post requires a formal relevant professional qualification e.g. Social work, Probation or an NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a closely related field.

The post holder will provide regular supervision to case managers assessing, planning and delivering work with some of the highest needs and most complex young people within our communities and custodial settings.

Performance management is a key accountability of the role and the successful candidate will need to be confident in reporting the YJS Partnership Board and the wider management team regarding performance in the South Locality and with regard to the area of Transitions and Court related performance indicators.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
