We currently have 1 FTE Fostering Family Worker vacancy in the Fostering Service as part of our ongoing mission to improve the quality of support available to looked after children and foster carers. Applicants will be enthusiastic, creative and flexible with significant knowledge and experience of safeguarding children. The post holder will hold a professional qualification in a childcare related field (Minimum Level 3 NVQ).

As a Fostering Family Worker, you will provide a range of individual programmes of work with looked after children and foster carers including therapeutic family interventions that promote attachment, strengthen placement stability and avoid placement breakdowns. Interventions may include theraplay, PACE, behaviour strategy management, 1-1 work with children and identity work. You will have the capacity to use theoretical frameworks to promote attachment-focused parenting, support placements and negotiate positive outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Relevant experience of working with children and families is also an essential requirement of the role. Recording, report-writing and IT skills are also essential, along with an ability to work on your own initiative and as an effective member of a team.

We are looking for a Fostering Family Worker who has excellent organisational skills and an ability to establish good working relationships with children, parents and carers to achieve specified goals. You will also have a flexible commitment to work out of hours at times to carry out duties as and when required by the service.

Appointment to this post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure. The posts involve widespread travel as they are countywide (some out of county travel may also be required) and carry an authorised car user allowance or taxi service for disabled people.

Fostering Family Workers provide countywide support; however, posts may be assigned to specific teams to support different areas of the county.
