Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership is responsible for the new safeguarding children arrangements for Nottinghamshire. We are committed to helping children and young people grow up in a safe and stable environment, supported to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility and our role is to make sure that we work effectively as a partnership to achieve the best outcomes for children in need of support and protection.

The new safeguarding arrangements were introduced at the beginning of 2019 and we are now seeking to appoint an Independent Scrutineer to be a part of the future development of the Partnership and help drive success. There is a strong foundation of multi-agency work in Nottinghamshire and the new arrangements provide the opportunity to build on those strengths and safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in our area.

About you:

You should be an innovative, creative thinker who will relish the chance to be part of the new safeguarding arrangements and help shape the future of safeguarding in Nottinghamshire.

If you are experienced in safeguarding work in a multi-agency context at operational and strategic levels with a clear focus on outcomes for children and families, we would like to hear from you. You will need a good understanding and experience of performance management with an ability to use a range of sources when judging the effectiveness of the arrangements. You will contribute towards identifying ways to improve safeguarding and act as a constructive and critical friend.

You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of local and national safeguarding agendas and of recent developments in social care and health; as well as in associated legislation. You will have the presence and ability to develop trust and respect of the partners, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Other information:

If you would like to have a formal discussion about the role please contact Steve Baumber, Service Manager, Partnerships and Planning on 0115 9773917.

Please note that the Independent Scrutineer will perform Office Holder duties and IR35 rules apply to this appointment. Payments will be made through payroll and tax and NI deductions will be made at source via PAYE in line with current HMRC guidelines.

Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
