Young people are placed with us either on youth justice grounds for criminal matters or for welfare reasons because they are seriously unsafe in the community. Nearly always our young people have had a very difficult care history and lots of traumatic experiences. We provide full time secure care, education, risk reduction programmes and physical and mental health services on site. We help these very vulnerable but also very complex and challenging young people turn their lives around. The work isn’t easy. Our staff group are very dedicated and skilled, they need to be very resilient to cope with the day to day challenges these young people present, though the personal rewards for staff are great. There really is nothing like knowing that you are part of helping some of the most complex young people in the country achieve positive change in their lives against all the odds.
