An exciting opportunity has arisen within Clayfields House, to work with a small team of Intervention Workers who specialise in providing 1:1 and group work with young people. Our Intervention Team has developed a national reputation for expert and innovative work, with examples published on the Youth Justice Effective Practice Resource Hub.
Children residing with us have highly complex needs including chronic self-harm and suicidal ideation, substance misuse and trauma, as well as complex diagnoses such as ASD, ADHD and Attachment disorders. These are some of the most vulnerable and challenging children in the country, placed with us through the Criminal Justice System—either sentenced or remanded—or on welfare grounds under Section 25 of the Children’s Act, due to high-risk behaviours to themselves or others.
Clayfields House’s mission statement and philosophy is that “change is always possible”—even the most distressed, disenfranchised and difficult-to-engage young people can make successful progress into a productive adulthood.
You will deliver high-quality assessment of need and evaluation of risk management, in order to reduce offending and/or high-risk behaviours. You will also play a key role in resettlement and transitional planning, supporting young people as they prepare to move on from secure care—whether returning to families, foster placements, semi-independent living, or other settings. This includes working closely with external agencies to ensure continuity of care and positive reintegration into the community.
You will be a graduate in a relevant discipline and already have some relevant training and experience in this field. You’ll be highly literate and able to provide leadership and expertise to other colleagues in the centre. You will be child-focused, attachment and trauma aware, a positive and proactive person who builds relationships with ease, maintains personal emotional resilience, and works effectively within a wide-ranging multi-disciplinary team.
Clayfields House provides 24/7 secure care, education and treatment for up to 20 young people aged between 10 and 18 years of age.
