Principal Planning Officer
Based at County Hall and working in the Development Management Team, you will be an experienced professional planner possessing a high level of personal drive, a commitment to excellent customer care and strong interpersonal skills in order to manage a large caseload of planning applications for a full range of developments which the County Council has the responsibility to determine as the minerals, waste and county planning authority. The workload will include representing the County Council at any public inquiries or hearings related to your caseload and you will also be expected to contribute to the wider work of the team and the Planning Group as required, including deputising for more senior officers in the team on selected matters.
You must possess the personal organisational skills which allow you to work on your own initiative, make decisions and solve problems in order to meet service delivery targets whilst working with tact and diplomacy in representing the County Council on politically sensitive issues. You must also have an understanding and commitment to the County Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
The County Council welcomes applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, age or sexual orientation.
