We are looking to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and committed SENCO to drive improvement for all children, including those who have special educational needs, more able students or those who fall into a vulnerable group in our school. This full time role will include class based teaching commitments as well as SEND leadership time. You will join a supportive, dedicated staff team and work with children who are keen to learn, well behaved and motivated.

It is expected that the post-holder will have previous SEND experience or will have the National SENDCO Award. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of all aspects of SEND and the new Code of Practice. They will also have an understanding of the importance of working in close partnership with parents and other professionals, and a strong commitment to removing barriers to learning and building the skills for success for every child. They will provide advice and support to staff in delivering in-class interventions.

Our SENDCO will have a commitment to academic excellence, helping every child succeed. This is an excellent opportunity to join and lead an established team in our friendly and inclusive school. This is a key leadership post and the successful applicant will have a clear vision of how to steer the development of SEND throughout the school.

Essential qualifications:

Qualified Teacher Status 
National SENDCo award and/or experience as a school SENDCo.                                          

If the successful candidate does not have the award currently, school will fund the relevant CPD.

Essential skills and experience:                                                                                        

SENDCo experience 
Familiarity of the SEND Code of Practice and EHC plans.                                                      

Have an understanding of specific strategies to support children with ASC                          

Up to date classroom experience
Experience of working alongside teachers, parents and outside agencies to support children’s learning and progress 
Familiarity with the EHAF process, leading meetings and completing related paperwork 
Be efficient in time management and working to deadlines

This post is suitable for an experienced main scale teacher but it is not suitable for an NQT.
